Former Bears head coach Mark French has been named head coach of . After five seasons in Hershey, French heads overseas to coach the Zagreb Bears. The Washington Capitals announced in May they will not be renewing his contract for the 2013-14 season.

“Mark still holds the AHL’s record for being the fastest coach to achieve 100 wins,” said Medvescak GM Aaron Fox. “He’s going to bring a winning pedigree to Zagreb and he’s extremely happy to be able to help Medveščak become a successful KHL team.”

Medvescak is one of Croatia’s top hockey teams and this is their first season in the KHL. They have won the Croatian Ice Hockey Championship every year since 1995, excluding 1996 and 2008. These Bears play in an arena that holds crowds close to NHL size.

French is fifth all time in wins for Hershey with 180 and is the fastest to 100 wins in AHL history. The search continues for a head coach in Chocolate Town.
